Animation continues, screenings abound

Just a quick update, Character rigging is wrapping up, thanks to the great work of Andre Stuppert, and Hsuan Wei Liang, and Zed Bennett.

As you read this, The vile Gingerbreed are being brought to life by Miles Southan, animator extroardinaire.

Meanwhile, after a few test screenings and some edit tweaks the film is getting tighter, punchier, gorier, and even more fun.

Final CG begins !

Gingerbreed is moving into final CG phase ! The edit is as close to final, right now we're making creatures, robots and future-tastic interiors. Meanwhile the score is also moving from draft to final, with the help of our very talented composer and one-man orchestra Paul Houseman.

We will be having a screening of the Gingerbreed rough cut for the cast and crew on Saturday the 24th of February. Design and Character modeling are chugging along as we ramp up for full scale FX production.

Edit update

Hello,

Working hard to lock the edit down. Things looks good, but there's still quite a bit of work before it flows well. This update is just to reassure everyone we're still working hard to get things to a watchable state. Nothing worse than a sloppy edit.

We're also busy drafting a post-production schedule. Of course it's very ambitious, but so is everything about this project, so we're used to getting the impossible done.

Happy Thanksgiving (a day late, so happy leftovers !)

Rough cut runs smoothly

Szymon and I recently sat down and watched the rough cut in its entirety for the first time. It was quite a thrill, and surpassed our expectations. Even the most absurd bits seem to make sense in the hands of our spectacular cast. After a few tweaks, we will lock the edit, and begin filling in all of the films visual FX.

Behind the Scenes: from Animatic to Shoot

Before shooting the film, we created a full length animatic - rough 3d models of all sets and characters were made and we meticoulously animated every camera angle and all of the characters movements throughout the scenes. Having an animatic made it much easier to work without the aid of physical sets, and made our condensed shooting schedule possible.

Our last day of shooting wrapped today. Stefanie pulled off her action sequences without a hitch. Here's Sasha Smirnoff ready for action!

We’re up to our last two days of shooting this weekend. We’ll be doing the battle sequences with Fuzz (Ryland Shelton) and Sasha (Stefanie Estes). It’s going to be a lot of work but they’ve both become very greenscreen-savvy so they’ll have no trouble.

After this weekend’s scenes are shot, we’ll be ready to start working on assembling a complete rough cut. About 30% of the scenes have already been rough-edited, and it will be exciting to be able to watch the film from beginning to end.
